Hiway Credit Union announces partnership with Olympian Carrie Tollefson

ST. PAUL, MN (December 3, 2020) — Hiway Credit Union has announced a new partnership with the Olympian Carrie Tollefson.

Through this partnership, Carrie will serve as a Hiway brand ambassador and company spokesperson and she will be part of Hiway’s branding efforts and community outreach.  A Minnesota native, Carrie and her family are long-time Hiway members, utilizing a variety of products for their personal and business needs.

“We are thrilled to bring someone like Carrie on board to represent our brand,” said Tara Graff, Hiway’s Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development. “As a Minnesota native and a 20-plus-year Hiway member, Carrie brings a genuine enthusiasm for Hiway along with knowledge of how we like to work with our members. In addition, she is well aligned with many of the community causes we already support, particularly around youth.”

About Carrie

Born and raised in Dawson, Minnesota, Carrie won 13 state championships setting a national record of five consecutive individual cross-country state championships plus eight state track championships. She attended college at Villanova Universality where she won five NCAA championships individually and was a member of the 1999 NCAA Cross Country Championships team. In 1998, Carrie was named NCAA Indoor track athlete of the year and was the first person in NCAA history to win both the 3k and 5k.

She was a member of the United States team to participate in 2004 Olympic Summer Games in Athens Greece where she ran the 1500 meters. In September 2013 Carrie was inducted into the USA Track and Field Minnesota Hall of Fame.

As a wife and mother of three, Carrie continues to be an active member of the Twin Cities running community serving as a coach for Moms on the Run and Girls on the Run as well as hosting running camps and clinics. In addition to her running activities, Carrie does broadcasting work for ESPN, NBC, NBCSN, ABC and USATF.tv. She does regular media coverage for the New York Road Runners including the TCS NYC Marathon and the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Carrie has also done commentary for several world class events, including the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon and Foot Locker Nationals.
