Hiway Credit Union donates $100,000 to Hiway Foundation
Hiway increased annual donation to foundation in recognition of the Credit Union’s 90th anniversary
ST. PAUL, MN (May 17, 2021) — Hiway Credit Union today announced a $100,000 contribution to the Hiway Foundation.
“In honor of Hiway’s 90 years of serving our community as a Credit Union and our continued focus on the financial wellbeing, particularly for our youth, we wanted to do something significant to support the Hiway Credit Union Foundation,” said Dave Boden, CEO, Hiway Credit Union. “The Hiway Foundation was created to serve, support and strengthen the communities that we as a credit union serve and the last 12 months have been extremely challenging for many. The Hiway Foundation has received many additional requests for financial support, mostly from organizations that address issues such as food insecurities, civil rights and education and we wanted to ensure the Foundation had additional funds to meet these requests. The Foundation has made a commitment to address diversity and inclusion programing in our schools as well as supporting small businesses in the community and we wanted support them in this endeavor.”
Founded in 2017, the Hiway Foundation was created to build upon Hiway’s tradition to be “With You on the Road of Life.” For 90 years, Hiway has strengthened the financial lives of the members and served its communities through volunteerism and financial support. By forming an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Hiway Credit Union Foundation aims to increase their support through tax-deductible charitable donations and volunteer opportunities.
Through the support and generosity of Hiway’s business partners, credit union colleagues, and Hiway members and associates, in 2020 the Foundation donated more than $88,000 to the communities that they serve through scholarships, teacher grants, funding for financial education programing and community initiatives. All the money raised and donated is used towards strengthening the financial literacy and life skills of underserved youth in the Twin Cities community.
