Honor Credit Union Community Shred Days save 341,148 trees!

SAINT JOSEPH, MI (October 29, 2014) -- Throughout the seven Community Shred Days that Honor Credit Union hosted across its branch areas between April and October 2014 40,135 lbs of paper was safely and securely shredded and recycled!  According to Kent Record Management, the document destruction company that shredded on site at each Community Shred Day, that 40,135 lbs of paper equates to 341,148 trees saved!

Every Honor Credit Union Community Shred Day is open to both members and non-members, giving the community an opportunity to not only securely clear out their unwanted confidential papers, but also contribute to Honor’s environmentally conscious initiative to go paperless.  Every community member that participated in a shred day in 2014 can be proud that they joined the movement to give back to our environment.  Every single pound of paper that was brought in and recycled contributed to saving space in our landfills right here in Michigan.  It is estimated that for every ton of paper recycled, 3 cubic yards of landfill space is saved.  That means that in addition to the 341,148 trees Honor CU’s Community Shred Days saved, we also saved 60,203 cubic yards of landfill space!  The recycling doesn’t stop here.  Be on the lookout for dates and locations of 2015 Community Shred Days!
