Honor Credit Union: Powered by Honor’s first year a success

ST. JOSEPH, MI (December 16, 2013) --  As 2013 comes to an end, Honor Credit Union’s community fund, Powered By Honor®, has seen success in its first full of year of operation.  With a mission to enhance the charitable and volunteer efforts of Honor in all of the communities it serves, Powered By Honor has been able to do just that in 2013.  Supporting non-profit organizations and giving student scholarships has been Powered By Honor’s focus.

In 2013, the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan’s new building fund, improvements at the Sarett Nature Center, and the First Tee of Benton Harbor were all groups receiving donations from Powered By Honor.  Powered By Honor was also excited to contribute to Relay for Life, Healing Paws, and Consequential Minds.  The Community Commitment Scholarships and the Lake Michigan College Scholarship enabled Powered By Honor to directly assist local area students in their quest for furthering their education.

The donations made in 2013 through Powered By Honor were made possible through a wide range of sources, including Casual for a Cause donations from Honor Credit Union’s employees, proceeds from Honor’s Member Perks program, a portion of Honor’s debit and credit card fee income, and other various fundraising activities.  These will all continue to contribute to Powered By Honor during 2014, as well as a Euchre Tournament scheduled for February 8 in St. Joseph.

Powered By Honor exists to partner with communities.  In addition to corporate donations and sponsorships for many local organizations, Honor Credit Union team members contribute countless hours of service to organizations within its communities every year. Honor Credit Union, a $460 million credit union, provides a wide range of affordable financial services to more than 41,000 members in fourteen Michigan counties.
