NAPERVILLE, IL (May 10, 2016) — The Division of Financial Institutions has honored the memory of former Illinois Credit Union League CEO, Dan Plauda, with a plaque dedication. The posthumous dedication recognizes Dan’s invaluable contributions and service to the credit union community. Tom Kane, CEO of Illinois Credit Union League was presented with the plaque by Wade Cooper, Supervisor of Credit Unions at the Division of Financial Institutions in Springfield. The Division of Financial Institutions regulates all Illinois state chartered credit unions.
Dan passed away on May 1, 2016. He was 69.
The Illinois Credit Union League announced the establishment of the Illinois Credit Union Foundation’s Dan Plauda Memorial Fund to honor the memory and valued contributions of Dan Plauda. As Illinois Credit Union League CEO, Dan chartered the Illinois Credit Union Foundation in 1978 to provide monetary assistance to credit unions for education and products, establishing it as a 501(3) charitable organization to benefit the needs of small credit unions throughout the state. Dan served as a mentor to the Foundation Board during his tenure as Illinois Credit Union League CEO.
As of 2016, the ICU Foundation disbursed more than $3 million in scholarships, community service grants, peer assistance, and emergency and natural disaster aid. A champion of the ICU Foundation, he strongly believed in its efforts to assist credit unions in Illinois.
Funding the Foundation through a memorial gift is a testament to all the really great things Dan accomplished during his tenure with the League and a fitting way to thank and honor him. These funds will be used to award grants and scholarships to credit unions in need of assistance.

The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) is the primary trade association for 212 state and federal credit unions in Illinois.
