Horizon Credit Union is closing at noon on Sept 21 to fight food insecurity across four states
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA (September 16, 2021) — On Tuesday, Sept 21, Horizon Credit Union will close at noon for the fourth annual Go. Give. Grow. company-wide community service day. Horizon employees will embark on volunteer opportunities to fight food insecurities in communities across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
This annual event is designed to harness the power of Horizon’s employee team to make an impact in the community all at once.
In one afternoon, 350+ Horizon employees will lend a hand by volunteering to help 28 non-profit organizations. The goal is to fight against food insecurity in our communities.
Feeding America predicts that 42 million people in the US may experience food insecurities in 2021 due to the pandemic.
“Our community outreach pillars focus on fighting hunger, promoting health and boosting education. We know that food insecurity is a serious issue that has only been worsened by the pandemic.
We hope to make an impact in alleviating this hardship for those in our community who need it most. This is what the Go. Give. Grow. tradition is all about – seeing a need in our community and then coming together as a team to provide support.” – Kathleen Schilb, Community Engagement Manager
The HZCU Go-Givers will primarily help out at local food banks on Go. Give. Grow. Day. Some employees have chosen remote volunteer options which include activities like packing hygiene kits and writing notes to seniors.
