Houston Chapter of Credit Unions & CO-OP contributes more funds for children’s charities

HOUSTON, TX (September 9, 2020) — The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions continues to contribute   funds for children’s charities.  On Saturday, March 7, 2020, participants in the Chapter’s annual Bowling Tournament raised over $8,000.  The board approved to increase to $10,000 for donate to the Texas Children’s Hospital.  Chapter board member Steve Gilman and President/CEO of Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU received the good news that the CO-OP will match the $10,000 donation.  In addition, during a recent Chapter board meeting, the Board approved an additional $10,000 direct payment to the Texas Children’s Hospital this year, for a total of $30,000 in donations to the Hospital this year.

Steve Gillman explains “given the challenges of 2020, I believe Jennifer Smart, the Hospital, and all participants in the Houston area credit union community will appreciate the Chapter’s and CO-OP’s continued commitment to raise funds for children in need”.

Anita Tomczak, Marketing Manager at Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU and the Bowling Tournament event organizer said “I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to all the organizations who contributed to supporting the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions in their fundraising efforts helping Houston Children’s Charities.”  All participants enjoyed the tournament knowing the funds support children in need.

The Bowling Tournament is one of many efforts in which the Chapter supports the community and enhances the quality of life in the Greater Houston Area.  The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions provides a collaborative environment for credit union professionals and volunteers to receive education, leadership development, and grow credit union community influence.  The Houston Chapter is comprised of over 100 credit unions in the Houston metropolitan area.
