HOUSTON HIGHWAY CU, YOUR FCU JOIN CO-OP NEWORK TO COMPETE SUCCESSFULLY AGAINST BANKS
Nation’s Largest ATM Network Helps Ensure Convenient Member Access to Accounts
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (November 3, 2010) – With a goal of successfully competing against banks by providing their members with convenient access to accounts, Houston Highway CU and YOUR FCU have newly joined CO-OP Network from CO-OP Financial Services.
The two Texas-based credit unions are among several new CO-OP Network participants so far in 2010, bringing the total number of CO-OP clients in the Lone Star State to more than 200.
“We are partnering with CO-OP Financial Services to bring big bank convenience to the individual service-oriented Houston Highway CU,” said Craig Atkinson, president of the Houston-based credit union. “CO-OP Network is a useful improvement in our constant quest for service excellence.”
CO-OP Network is the nation’s largest network of ATMs, providing surcharge-free access to accounts for credit union members at 28,000 machines, 9,000 of which take deposits. In Texas alone, there are 1,200 ATMs in CO-OP Network, 200 deposit-taking. CO-OP Network ATMs can be found in retail locations such as 7-Eleven, Costco and Walgreens, in addition to credit union facilities.
In addition to CO-OP Network, YOUR FCU, based in Irving, joined CO-OP Shared Branching.
“One of our major strategic plans for 2010 is to increase our member’s access to their credit union and its services,” said Mark O’Bryan, president/CEO of YOUR FCU. “Our members love the added convenience of the shared branching and ATM networks. We have the CO-OP logo on our Web site home page and placing the cursor over it allows our members to easily find a branch or ATM near them. Most of our members never knew there were so many nearby branches and ATMs.”
With more than 4,000 locations around the country, CO-OP Shared Branching is the fourth largest branch network in the nation. There are 250 CO-OP Shared Branching locations in Texas to serve credit union members, and 12 within a 10 mile radius of Irving, where YOUR FCU is based.
