Hudson River Teachers Federal Credit Union changes name; becomes Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union

Change reflects credit union's broad field of membership

MOHEGAN LAKE, NY (October 1, 2015) — Hudson River Teachers Federal Credit Union has changed its name. The credit union is now Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union. The name change, which is effective immediately, better reflects the credit union’s field of membership.

“Our new name Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union better reflects who we are – a credit union that services a broad range of members, broader than only teachers,” said Thomas J. Powers, Jr., chief executive officer of the credit union. “Having teachers in our name perpetuated the misperception that we only serve teachers, which has not been so for a very long time. So, we’re happy to now have a new name – and one that better conveys the broad-reaching credit union that we are.”

In addition to serving teachers in 29 school districts in northern Westchester and Rockland counties, Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union membership is also open to all students, employees and members of the Boards of Education of those school districts, members of select labor unions, companies, and partner groups based in Northern Westchester and Rockland, family members of those in membership-eligible groups, and individuals retired from those member groups.

Similar to a commercial or savings bank, Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union offers a wide range of banking services. They include: savings and checking accounts, loans, mortgages, mobile banking, VISA credit cards, investment and insurance products, and access to a nationwide network of ATMs.

“We urge everyone to check us out,” continued Powers. “Credit unions offer better rates than traditional banks and financial institutions, and Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union can offer our products and services to just about everyone in the area because our field of membership is very broad.”
