Hughes’ own wins Tucson’s 40 Under 40 award

TUCSON, AZ (December 7, 2017) — Danielle Durnal-Gomez, Business Development Representative at Hughes Federal Credit Union, is a recipient of the 2017 Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious 40 Under 40 award.

During the eight years Ms. Durnal-Gomez has spent in banking experience, she has consistently proven her commitment to volunteerism and community support in the form of financial literacy, assisting local organizations like the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, Easter Seals Blake Foundation, American Red Cross Southern Arizona Chapter, the “Savings to Scholarship” program Earn to Learn, and Junior Achievement.

“I am honored to be selected among many such wonderful young professionals,” said Ms. Durnal-Gomez. “I am excited, humbled and proud to be representing Hughes as an advocate for financial literacy in our community and am deeply thankful to other team members, especially Kellie Terhune Neely, Vice President of Marketing, for providing me with the inspiration and mentoring to succeed. ”

Ms. Neely said: “A natural leader and role model to employees, Dani Durnal-Gomez consistently demonstrates leadership and passion in furthering our ‘people helping people’ philosophy and making a positive difference in our members’ financial lives. She is always looking to develop new and creative ways to engage, motivate and help those in need. We are very proud of Dani.”

In 2018, Ms. Durnal-Gomez will start a 3-year program provided by the Credit Union National Association in order to earn a Credit Union Certified Marketing Executive designation, helping her gain valuable insight on how to improve her continued support of the Tucson community through financial literacy programs.

Ms. Durnal-Gomez’s professional affiliations include service as a Board Vice President, Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce, the Mountain West Credit Union Association Arizona Youth Involvement Network, and United Way of Southern Arizona Financial Stability Partnership.
