IBMSECU participates in Community Back to School Bash
DELRAY BEACH, FL (August 12, 2016) — IBM Southeast Employees’ Credit Union, IBMSECU, recently participated in the Palm Beach County Community Back to School Bash that took place on Saturday, August 6, 2016.
The Community Back to School Bash (BASH) collaborates with nonprofit organizations throughout Palm Beach County that serve disadvantaged students pre-K through 12 by providing supplies, backpacks, information and resources to empower children to begin the school year with confidence. In 1994 the BASH was established and assisted 120 children. The BASH has since grown to include over 70 non-profit agencies serving more 12,000 children. Friends of Foster Children of Palm Beach County, Inc proudly serves as the fiscal agent for the BASH and is a 501 (C)(3), nonprofit organization.
Michael Miller, CEO at IBMSECU, stated that “we were honored to have sponsored a child at BASH this year. It was a great opportunity for our staff to help so many children begin their school year off with self-assurance. Providing backpacks, uniforms and school supplies for a child who might not be able to afford items follows the CU philosophy of ‘People Helping People.’ Children are our future and we were honored to have participated in the Palm Beach County Community Back to School Bash.” In addition to sponsoring a child, IBMSECU employee and family volunteers assisted with setting up the event and walking students thru the shop for their school supplies.
