IMCU RAISES OVER $19,000 TO PURCHASE SCHOOL UNIFORMS FOR STUDENTS
(Indianapolis, IN, August 2012) – Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) distributed school uniforms to the students at IPS School #44, Riverside Elementary, located at 2033 Sugar Grove Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202 on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Indiana Members Foundation raised over $19,000 at their fundraising event, “Vegas Baby, Rat Pack Style”, to benefit the Indiana Members Foundation, which took place in February at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, to purchase these uniforms. Each student that attended received a pair of pants, three shirts, a belt, socks, as well as a pair of shoes, which IMCU partnered with Samaritan’s Feet to provide. IMCU employees volunteered their time on Friday, August 3, 2012 to disburse the uniforms to the students along with backpacks and laundry detergent IMCU collected. In addition, Indiana Pacer, George Hill, was also on hand from 3:30 to 5 pm assisting with the backpack distribution. Throughout the 2011-12 Indiana Pacer Season, IMCU donated a backpack for every free throw George Hill made.
The Indiana Members Foundation was founded in 2010 by Indiana Members Credit Union employees and volunteers for the purpose of being a positive influence in the community, specifically providing school children in the Indianapolis area with the necessary essentials for learning and succeeding in their education. “Indiana Members Foundation is pleased to once again partner with Samaritan’s Feet and School #44 to provide uniforms, shoes and other necessary tools to aid the students with their education. It is imperative that these students are able to start the school year prepared and I am thrilled our support will allow the children to focus on their education when they arrive at class,” said Ron Collier, CEO of IMCU.
