Raiz FCU now accepting applications for 2024 spring scholarships

EL PASO, TEXAS (March 18, 2024) — It’s the beginning of the end for high school and college students alike, as they return from their break and into the second half of the spring semester. Between anxiously awaiting acceptance letters and studying for the next big test, many are beginning to prepare themselves for the next step of their educational journey. To help ease the financial stress that too often comes with attaining a higher education, Raiz Federal Credit Union has launched its 2024 spring community scholarship opportunities and is now accepting applications.

More than just monetary support, these scholarships are paving paths for the future of our borderland community by supporting students’ aspirations and empowering them to create their own success. A total of 13 scholarships will be awarded for the 2024 spring season, three of which are specially focused for those achieving a future in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), education, and business.

  • $1,000 Raiz Community Scholarship: Ten scholarships are available to support students in pursuing their educational goals and advancing their careers.
  • $5,000 Michael Sandoval STEM Memorial Scholarship: In honor of Michael Sandoval’s legacy, this scholarship is dedicated to uplifting the next generation of STEM leaders from the border region.
  • $5,000 Raizing Leaders – UTEP College of Education Scholarship: Supporting future educators, mentors, and changemakers, this scholarship is open to students enrolled in UTEP’s College of Education.
  • $5,000 Raizing Leaders – UTEP HUNT College of Business Administration Scholarship: Designed to empower entrepreneurs and business leaders, this scholarship is open to students pursuing degrees in business administration at UTEP’s HUNT College of Business.

Raiz Federal Credit Union encourages all interested students to learn more and apply online at www.raiz.us. Although membership with Raiz is required, non-members can also take advantage of this opportunity by easily opening an account online for only $5. Raiz would like to remind students that transcripts are taken into consideration for these awards and should be requested with enough time before applications close on Friday, May 3, 2024.
