Island Federal Credit Union to Roll Out Two New Credit Cards

Offering one of the lowest interest rates on Long Island

LONG ISLAND, NY (May 6, 2013) Starting May 1st, Island FCU will introduce two new credit cards offering one of the lowest interest rates on Long Island.

“We found there was a great opportunity for Island to offer credit cards with competitive rates and no annual or balance transfer fees. That’s why Island is introducing two brand new cards: The “Island Best Rate” MasterCard and the “Island Best Rewards” World MasterCard," says Tony Sidoti, Vice President/Chief Lending Officer at Island Federal Credit Union.

The “Island Best Rate” MasterCard will have a six-month introductory interest rate of 1.99%APR on purchases and 1.99%APR on balance transfers for 12 months. Thereafter, the interest rate is as low as 7.95%APR on all balances. There are no annual or balance transfer fees.

The “Island Best Rewards” World MasterCard, offers an interest rate as low as 9.95%APR. When an individual signs up, they will receive 10,000 free points. These points can be redeemed for travel, gift cards and a variety of other options as part of the Island Rewards program.

"Whether you are starting to build credit, looking to save money with a lower interest rate or want a card with an enhanced Rewards Program where you earn points for every purchase, Island has the best credit card option for you,” says Sidoti.

Applications for both cards are available at Island branches and online at islandfcu.com, starting May 1.  In addition, Island representatives will be available to take applications in person on May 11 at Newsday's Field of Wheels Exhibition & Show, which Island is co-sponsoring. That event will be held at 235 Pinelawn Road, Melville, New York from 11am – 4pm.

Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Nassau or Suffolk County is welcome to bank at Island FCU.
