Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union awards $1,500 to Place of Promise

LOWELL, MA (October 19, 2020) — Place of Promise is the latest non-profit organization to be awarded a $1,500 donation from Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s We Share a Common Thread Foundation, as part of the third-quarter (June-September) Give-a-Click program.

The Give-A-Click program runs quarterly on the We Share a Common Thread Foundation website (WSACT.com). Community members visit the site, learn about the worthy non-profit contestants, and cast their vote for the one they would like to support. The organization with the most votes at the end of the quarter is awarded a $1,500 donation from the Foundation. Place of Promise is a locally operated, faith-based, non-profit organization in Lowell, Massachusetts, that was founded in 1994 by Elizabeth “Beth” Kidd.

Over its 26 years of operation, the organization has been focused on helping individuals within the community who have been broken by addiction and hurt, helping them rebuild their lives. They serve people who are dealing with homelessness, incarceration, neglected medical conditions, mental disorders, abuse, trauma, and alcohol and opioid drug addictions.

“We are so grateful to Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union and their We Share a Common Thread Foundation for giving us the opportunity to participate in the Give-A-Click program.” Said Beth. Throughout the last year, Place of Promise has served over 100 men and women.

With the rise of COVID-19, the financial cost of helping people has increased. The $1,500 prize winnings will be put toward the long-term adult residential program to help fund those with no financial resources or housing.

The organization operates, “on the generosity of donors and volunteers,” and they are always looking for people to become involved with their mission.
