John Bratsakis and Karen Rosales elected to Credit Union Miracle Day Board
COLUMBIA, MD (August 16, 2016) — Credit Union Miracle Day (CUMD), the title sponsor group of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run®, welcomes new Members of the Board of Directors John Bratsakis, President/CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association, Columbia, MD, and Karen Rosales, President/CEO of Arlington Community Federal Credit Union, Arlington, VA.

Bratsakis has a 28-year history in the credit union movement. Prior to joining the Association in 2011 as President/CEO, he was Senior Vice President of Baxter Credit Union, with $1.5 billion in assets. He currently serves on the system-wide CUNA Awareness Committee, is a Board Member and Secretary for AACUL, and is Chair of the Plexcity Board.
With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Rosales has served in various executive roles throughout her career in the credit union movement. Since 2010 she has managed the strategic direction, service delivery and operational efficiency of ACFCU, which has $250 million in assets. She currently serves as Chair of Leadership Arlington’s Board of Regents.
Bratsakis and Rosales join current board members Chair Theresa Mann, President/CEO of the Partnership FCU; Vice Chair Charlie Mallon, President/CEO of Congressional FCU; Treasurer Jan Roche, President/CEO of State Department FCU; and Juri Valdov, retired President/CEO of Northwest FCU.
The race title sponsorship was recently renewed for three years – 2017, 2018, 2019 – and CUNA Mutual Group and PSCU have committed to being the co-lead financial supporters.
The 45th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run will take place Sunday, April 2. The race course is a fast, flat route around the iconic memorials in the nation’s capital and attracts world-class runners. The race is known as the “Runner’s Rite of Spring” and is on the “bucket list” of things to do in Washington, D.C. according to the Washingtonian Magazine.
Since becoming the title sponsors of races in 2002, Credit Union Miracle Day, a collaboration of over 100 credit unions and business partners and CUSOs, has donated over $7.5 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, under the umbrella of Credit Unions for Kids. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is an alliance of premier children’s hospitals which treat 10 million critically ill children annually, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run is part of a Family of Races which also includes the Credit Union SacTown Run in California, a Freedom Run at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, sponsored by the Defense Credit Union Council, and a Freedom Run in Wiesbaden Army Garrison in Germany, sponsored by Andrews FCU.
