Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union moves from a federal charter to a state charter

BATTLE CREEK, MI (June 14, 2016) — Effective June 1, 2016 after receiving final regulatory approval, Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union (KCFCU) became Kellogg Community Credit Union (KCCU). Members of the credit union supported the recommendation to transition from a federally chartered credit union to a state chartered credit union. Moving from a federal charter to a state charter allows KCCU to expand their reach in Southwest Michigan.

The change to a state charter will not impact KCCU’s member accounts in any way. KCCU will continue to offer the same great products and services from the same branch locations with the same great teams! All deposits at the credit union will remain insured by the NCUA for up to $250,000 per account. The most significant change will be the transition of their name and logo to Kellogg Community Credit Union which will happen over the next six months.

The state charter allows KCCU an expanded field of membership and they will now be able to offer financial services in 15 Michigan Counties. KCCU will be expanding to the greater Grand Rapids market. This will provide them with the opportunity to serve new members and businesses, while also continuing to serve the Kellogg Company employees, retirees, and their families in the greater Grand Rapids area.

“We would like to thank our members for voting yes to approve the state charter,” says Tracy Miller, CEO of Kellogg Community Credit Union. “KCFCU was founded in 1941 and for 75 years we have been providing friendly and competitive financial services to our local communities and have experienced steady and strong growth. Moving to a state charter provides us with an opportunity for future long-term growth for many more years to come.”
