JEFFERSON CITY, MO (May 12, 2025) |
Conservation Employees’ Credit Union (CECU) President Kevin Brueseke will retire by year-end 2025. During his tenure as president, Brueseke helped the credit union to grow its assets by 65% and its membership by 20%. He also shepherded member rewards programs and digital banking services.
“I attribute our growth to meeting our members’ needs, providing value and making them want to maintain their CECU membership,” Brueseke says. In fact, Conservation Employees’ Credit Union ranks 24 out of 700 U.S. credit unions with $100 million-$250 million in assets for providing value to members, according to business management firm Callahan & Associates. Kevin recalls, “I knew the credit union was a special place, because of its traditional credit union philosophy and financial soundness. CECU has always focused on meeting the needs of the group it serves.”
Brueseke came to Conservation Employees’ from the Missouri Division of Credit Unions, where he worked as a financial examiner. He has worked in the credit union industry since 1981, getting his first job as an accountant for Arsenal Credit Union after graduating from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Kevin went on to work for Missouri Corporate Credit Union, now Millennium Corporate Credit Union, and to serve as the chief financial officer and chief operation officer for the Missouri Credit Union Association, now part of the Cornerstone League. Brueseke is a certified league executive and credit union development educator.
During his 44 years of service, Brueseke has been a strong supporter of the credit union movement, volunteering on Millennium Corporate’s board of directors and credit committee, as well as the finance council executive committee for the Credit Union National Association, now America’s Credit Unions. He is most proud of his time running the Missouri Credit Union Foundation’s Buddy Bass Tournament, benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Over 17 years, the event raised more than $1 million, with $170,000 benefitting SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
“Conservation Employees’ Credit Union’s board of directors and staff wish Kevin all the best for his upcoming retirement,” says Rich Wehnes, the credit union’s chairman. “Having him here for the transition will ensure the next president has the tools they need to continue CECU’s success.”
The credit union has retained Cornerstone Resources to search for its next leader.
