Kinecta Federal Credit Union partners with EPA award winner Switch

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (October 11, 2019) — Kinecta Federal Credit Union recently announced a major initiative to move its data center from its Manhattan Beach headquarters to a co-located data center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The facility will be operated by Switch, one of only seven organizations nationwide to receive the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2019 Excellence in Green Power Use Award, and hold dedicated servers for Kinecta’s exclusive use, with a redundant data center based in Reno, Nevada.

“We are proud to have selected Switch for our two data centers, primary and disaster recovery, because of their great capabilities and we are especially pleased that Switch has achieved a zero-carbon footprint,” said Sharon Moseley, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President at Kinecta Federal Credit Union. “Keeping our planet safe for our members, their children and all future generations is also a priority for us, and Switch helps Kinecta achieve this goal.”

“Switch is a state-of-the-art computing facility that has dual power grid supplies and is located in an area that has a lower possibility of experiencing a major disaster than its former location in Manhattan Beach,” Moseley added. “The move will not only better protect Kinecta’s systems, but will also ensure that the high levels of availability of members’ banking applications are maintained, ensuring banking can happen anywhere, anytime.”

To date, more than 60 of Kinecta’s 100-plus business systems have been moved to Switch, which is also ranked number 9 on the EPA’s National Top 30 Tech & Telecom list.
