LAFCU Community Champions Sept.1 nomination deadline looming

Last chance to honor military, first responders at Lansing Lugnuts games this year

LANSING, MI (August 15, 2017) — Nominations are open until Sept. 1 for the LAFCU Community Champions program, which honors police, fire and medical first responders as well as current and veteran members of the military at Lansing Lugnuts games throughout the summer.

Community Champions receive four free tickets to a Lansing Lugnuts LAFCU Fireworks Spectacular, the opportunity to throw the first pitch and in-game recognition on the stadium videoboard. The remaining LAFCU Fireworks Spectaculars are Aug. 18Aug. 19Aug. 25, Aug. 26 and Sept. 5.

“We want to honor those who have chosen to protect and defend us,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU senior vice president of marketing.“It’s not about the accolades the honoree may have received throughout their service, it’s that they’ve trained and served or are serving for the betterment of our country or community. The recognition at the game allows Lugnuts fans to give back.”

So far this summer, seven Community Champions have been honored at LAFCU Fireworks Spectaculars:

  • Navy Cpl. Evan Renner, of East Lansing.
