Lake Michigan Credit Union hires Takunia Collins as mortgage loan originator for Kalamazoo area
GRAND RAPIDS, MI (June 29, 2018) — Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is pleased to announce the hiring of Takunia Collins as a mortgage loan originator for its Westnedge, Kalamazoo branch office. He reports directly to LMCU’s Vice President of Regional Mortgage Production, Kelli DeWitt (Southwest Michigan), and will be serving the Kalamazoo market.
Collins graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.A in secondary education, English, communications and Africana/black studies. After teaching 9th grade English for Kalamazoo Public Schools, he worked as a Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) certified homeownership specialist.
DeWitt is excited to have Collins join her Kalamazoo lending team. “Takunia’s background as an educator has garnered a great deal of respect in our community. His background as a credit counselor is a valuable asset in helping him assess what’s needed to get the job done. He has great attention to detail and is very passionate about working for LMCU. Collins is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan and moved to Kalamazoo in 2006.
