Lake Michigan Credit Union launches 6th annual One Pencil Project

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (August 2, 2016) — Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is pleased to announce the launch of its 2016 One Pencil Project. Designed to assist cash-strapped community schools, this initiative now enters its sixth year and extends through the end August, 2016, just in time for the start of the school year. All LMCU branches are designated collection sites for donated school supplies.

LMCU’s Assistant Vice President of Community Relations, Matt Cook, is ready to get the 2016 One Pencil Project started. “This has become a very popular, well-received program. The One Pencil Project is one small way to assist and thank the teachers in our local communities for the tireless work they do. We look forward to another successful campaign that will positively impact classrooms throughout Michigan.”

Teachers are encouraged to make their needs known to LMCU, and can request classroom supplies via the One Pencil Project, through the LMCU website, lmcu.org/onepencil.

Cash donations are gratefully accepted, as well as any of the following supplies:

  • Crayons
  • Color marker pens
  • Highlighters
  • Glue sticks and glue bottles
  • Packaged lined notebook paper
  • Packaged pens
  • Packaged pencils
  • Tissues, disinfectant wipes

Donated school supplies can be dropped off at any LMCU branch location.
