Lake Michigan Credit Union named a top lender by Michigan State Housing Development Authority

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (March 12, 2014) — Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is proud to announce that Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) has named LMCU as a Top Lender for 2014. The award was recently presented to LMCU by MSHDA’s Business Development Specialist, Nancy Baker, at LMCU’s Glenwood Hills corporate office. Vice President of Credit Risk, Richard Martin, accepted the award on behalf of his mortgage team.

MSHDA’s Top Lender award is given annually to its top ten mortgage lending institutions. LMCU ranked #7 on this list for 2014. As well, LMCU loan originator, Matt Adler, was ranked #3 in the state of Michigan for the same time frame, based on loan production.

From MSHDA’s website (www.michigan.gov/mshda): “These dedicated professionals receive special recognition and serve throughout the year focusing on product and process improvement to benefit Michigan home buyers and lenders alike.”

As Vice President of Credit Risk, Martin has nearly 40 years of overall banking industry experience and has been with LMCU for nine years. “We are very pleased to be named as a Top Lender by MSHDA. This is very much an LMCU team award. I hold a leadership position here, but it was the hard work of an entire team of loan originators, underwriters, processors and operations pros that made this award possible.”

Founded in 1933, Lake Michigan Credit Union is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Michigan, and its second largest credit union. With a staff of nearly 700, LMCU’s assets now exceed $3.4 billion, with over 307,000 customers. LMCU now has 36 convenient branch locations – including Traverse City, Farmington Hills and Troy – and nearly 100 ATMs in west Michigan and Kalamazoo – plus dedicated mortgage offices in Saginaw and Livonia. LMCU provides a full-range of financial services, from high interest-bearing checking accounts to mortgages, commercial loans, insurance and investment services.
