HARAHAN, LA (August 18, 2023) — The Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) awarded OnPath FCU with its inaugural Path to Progress Award. This Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Award recognizes a credit unions’ commitment to fostering a culture of DEI within its workforce, broader community, and the credit union movement. The credit union was honored during LCUL’s annual convention on August 4 in New Orleans, LA.

The Path to Progress Award, instituted by LCUL in partnership with DEI expert Dima Ghawi, seeks to acknowledge and celebrate organizations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication and accomplishments in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion. OnPath’s innovative and impactful initiatives have earned them this remarkable distinction.

In 2022, OnPath FCU established the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIBs) Council, comprising a diverse group of team members hailing from various backgrounds, locations, positions, and experiences. The purpose of the council is to provide platforms for connection and understanding, bringing together individuals with shared interests and backgrounds.

OnPath FCU offers employees ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion learning and development opportunities, reinforcing the continuous growth and adaptability of their team. In addition, every member of the executive team has completed and received their DEI certification from Cornell University in 2022 and 2023.

“This recognition from LCUL reflects how our employees have embraced and enhanced our diverse, equitable and inclusive culture at OnPath FCU. We’re humbled to receive the inaugural award and are more motivated than ever to actively foster an environment of belonging that elevates our employees, clients and communities,” said Jared Freeman, President and CEO of OnPath FCU.

The Path to Progress award is part of The Path to Inclusion Project, a larger statewide initiative by LCUL to increase and elevate DEI resources available to Louisiana credit unions. The Path to Inclusion project offers credit unions ongoing guidance and support on their DEI journey through funding a DEI Hotline, anti-harassment training, implicit bias trainings, and more.
