Liberty Bay Credit Union completes merger with Hingham Federal Credit Union

BRAINTREE, MA (April 3, 2018)Liberty Bay Credit Union announced today that its merger with Hingham Federal Credit Union is complete.  Although the two entities legally became one credit union in May 2017 under the name Liberty Bay Credit Union, the steps to integrate the technology required to operate as one credit union are now complete.

“The transition went smoothly and we are very happy that the merger has exceeded the expectations of members and employees of both Hingham Federal and Liberty Bay Credit Union,” said Ed Lopes, President & CEO, Liberty Bay Credit Union.  “The success of this merger speaks volumes for a promising future of growth for Liberty Bay Credit Union.”

The merger, which adds more than 3,500 new members to Liberty Bay Credit Union, also adds two branch locations – one in Hingham and one in Scituate.  These offices join the existing Liberty Bay network of branches in Braintree, Boston and Woburn.

While they will see the same familiar faces in their local branches, the former members of Hingham Federal Credit Union will see many enhancements related to the merger, including Liberty Bay’s robust online banking platform and mobile app, Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), MoneyLine, and access to the COOP Shared Branching Network offering everyday banking transactions at more than 5,000 branch locations worldwide.

Former Hingham Federal Credit Union office in Hingham is now Liberty Bay Credit Union.
