Liberty Bay Credit Union hosts vintage baseball game
BRAINTREE, MA (July 29, 2016) — Stoneham Selectwomen at the Ball Park – Vintage Base Ball & Family Day in Stoneham, Massachusetts, hosted by Liberty Bay Credit Union, celebrated the history of America’s favorite pastime with two games played with the equipment used in 1864. Players recreated games using an original lemon-peel sewn ball that can be caught off one hop for an out without using gloves. Annmarie O’Neill, Chair of the Board of Selectmen threw out the first pitch. Play Ball! – Members of the Stoneham Kearsarge, one of the teams that played during Liberty Bay Credit Union’s Vintage Base Ball & Family Day pose with employees from Liberty Bay and other distinguished guests that attended the games in Stoneham on July 16th. In addition to the two ball games that were played by 1864 rules, there were many free family-friendly activities, including kids’ Base Ball clinics, “Running of the Bases,” a photo booth, face painting, and games. Liberty Bay Credit Union provided free popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones for attendees, which raised money for the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield.
