DECATUR, IL (February 09, 2015) -- Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) has recently donated over $5,800 to 15 organizations across Central Illinois through its Do Good Checking account.
LLCU’s Do Good Checking contributed dollars based on a percentage of all account holders’ average monthly balance and sent the proceeds to local charities and organizations. Members were able to choose from three categories: Animals/Environment, Youth/Education and Human Services.
The 2014 Do Good Checking recipients were: Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS), Effingham Unit 40 Mentoring, Blessings in a Backpack, Coles County Animal Shelter, Mattoon Middle School Student Reading Committee Program, Mattoon Area Family YMCA, Macon County Animal Shelter, Decatur Family YMCA, Salvation Army, Christian County Animal Shelter, Pana Sports Booster, Pana Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Second Chance Animal Rescue, Our Place Youth Center, and Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies (SAFE).
Along with monetary donations, LLCU has also given back to its communities in 2014 with nearly 2,300 hours of staff volunteer hours at more than 80 organizations spread across its membership field.
“I love that I am able to volunteer through my job,” said Kim Bretz, LLCU credit manager. “I was able to contribute 44 hours of community service to local organizations last year that I may have not had time to do otherwise. It’s great helping others and getting more involved with our local community. I’m just glad I can help.”
