Decatur, Illinois, January 30th, 2025 – Land of Lincoln Credit Union  (LLCU) donated $20,000 to community partner, CHELP. CHELP is an  organization designed to aid those with dementia and to provide  support to their families. This program can provide personalized care plans, interventions, and support services to improve quality of life for individuals and their families.

This week, LLCU donated $20,000 to CHELP in support of the invaluable services they provide to our aging community.

“At our credit union, we believe in the principle of "people helping  people." By contributing to CHELP, we're investing in the well-being of  our members and neighbors,” states Jeri Phillips, LLCU Chief Member.

Services Officer and CHELP Board Member. “These funds will enable the program to expand its reach,  enhance its services, and potentially develop new initiatives to better support those living with dementia  and their caregivers.”

LLCU is a Dementia-Friendly organization, meaning our staff is trained to recognize possible signs of  dementia even while helping a member with a basic banking transaction. LLCU earned this designation by  partnering with CHELP for staff training on matters like recognizing potential signs of dementia and  furthermore, are trained to help them and their families navigate the financial struggles that are often a  part of someone living with dementia.
