LLCU offers community shred day

DECATUR, IL (September 12, 2017) — Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) is hosting a community shred day on Saturday, October 21st from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the branch location at 4850 East Prosperity Place in Decatur (across from East Walmart).

Credit union members and area residents are invited to bring documents to be shredded and recycled on site by Confidential Onsite Paper Shredding (COPS). The service is offered for free, but monetary donations are encouraged and will benefit the Webster-Cantrell Hall.

“Shredding personal documents is an important action in preventing identity theft. We are happy to host our Shred Day and provide this service to the public,” said Cayla Hittmeier, AVP of Marketing. “Anyone is welcome to drop off their documents and watch them get shredded on the spot. It’s a great way to jump start fall cleaning and organizing efforts for your household or business!”

Consider shredding anything that has personal information including your full name and address like old bills, credit card offers, bank statements, junk mail and sales receipts. Shredding documents is one of many steps consumers can take to protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft.
