Local credit union donates $11,000 to high school sports
PLYMOUTH, MN (December 19, 2016) — TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union partnered with KARE 11’s Prep Sports Hot Highlights segment this fall for the second consecutive year. With roots deep in education, TruStone Financial was pleased to be able to donate $1,000 to each winning school’s general athletic fund.
“Our partnership with KARE 11 provided TruStone Financial with the opportunity to honor the extraordinary effort and commitment of high school athletes throughout Minnesota,” said Chief Business Officer Steve Steen. “On behalf of TruStone Financial, I’d like to congratulate all of this year’s winners.”
The KARE 11 Hot Highlights segment, hosted by evening news co-anchor Randy Shaver, focuses on high school football in Minnesota. Each week, Shaver selected three plays from the previous week’s games and gave social media fans the chance to vote for their favorite. The school whose play received the most votes was named the winner at the end of each week. The players featured in each winning play were invited to celebrate the accomplishment at their school, hosted by TruStone Financial.
“TruStone Financial is a wonderful partner in helping KARE11 showcase Minnesota’s fabulous prep football players and fans,” said Randy Shaver. “This was our 33rd year of the Prep Sports Extra and TruStone’s sponsorship of ‘Hot Highlights’ made it even more special.”
This year’s winners include:
- Big Lake High School
- Blaine High School
- Burnsville High School
- Cretin-Derham Hall High School
- Mahtomedi High School
