Local credit union raises more than $2,000 for St. Jude
TOPEKA, KS (June 1, 2016) — Envista Credit Union partnered with Alpha Media Topeka for an ongoing effort to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Credit union staffers worked over the course of a month to bring in money to support the research and treatment center for children suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses.
Jessica Summers, Envista’s vice president of business development, says the credit union’s nine Topeka branches sold $1 paper pinups to customers, many of whom went above and beyond with their donations.
Their efforts brought in around $2,600 for St. Jude and more than half of that money came from the Holiday Square branch at 29th & Topeka Blvd.
“We’re really proud of them and they did a great job,” Summers said.
Summers and employees with the Holiday Square branch on Tuesday presented a check for $2,612 to Alpha Media market manager Larry Riggins and program director Keith Montgomery. The money raised will support the hospital’s research efforts and allow them to provide care and financial assistance to the families of children being treated at the Memphis-based facility.
“We are so pleased with the partnership we have with Envista and their dedication to helping Alpha Media Topeka raise money to find the cure for childhood cancer,” Riggins said. “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital holds a special place in the hearts of our Alpha Media family, and we couldn’t be more excited about the money raised, to help this cause, by the caring staff at Envista.”
Summers echoes that statement and says she and her staff here honored to have taken part in the campaign.
“We think it’s great that none of the families of the children have to pay for the services they have at St. Jude. We want to encourage the community to be a partner in hope and donate every month.”
Alpha Media Topeka is comprised of 580 WIBW, WIBWNewsNow.com, Big 94.5 Country and Country Legends 106.9. The radio stations host an annual Radiothon to raise money for St. Jude. The latest two-day event, held in March, netted more than $75,000.
