Local muralist creates two more eyecatching works of art

ROANOKE, VA (January 30, 2024) — Local muralist Jon Murrill has done it again! The talented local artist and muralist captures the beauty of our community, showcases the artistic talent in our area, and creates art that is eyecatching and engaging. Jon has completed two more beautiful works of art, which can be seen at Blue Eagle® Credit Union.

Blue Eagle Credit Union initially commissioned Jon to paint a mural at its newest location in West Salem. Once completed, and seeing such a positive reaction from people in the community, Blue Eagle CU engaged with Jon again to paint a second mural, this one on its Oak Grove office in Southwest Roanoke County.

“Working alongside Blue Eagle Credit Union has been such a rewarding experience. I have had the privilege of painting two murals in the past year for Blue Eagle. These projects both revolved around the idea of painting eyecatching local imagery to brighten everyone’s day-to-day experience. Blue Eagle is very passionate about working alongside our communities here in Roanoke. These murals are meant to be a gift to those communities by bringing color to their commutes and providing a unique photo opportunity for friends and family,” reflected Jon.

“We love how Jon manages to create such incredible, intentional, and multi-faceted works of art that highlight our See Banking Differently® brand and our region’s appeal,” shared Blue Eagle Credit Union Senior Brand Specialist Laurissa Thompson. “When we were exploring the idea of a mural, it was important to us that we use a local muralist. We have such amazing and talented artists in our area, why would we go outside our community? As a local credit union since 1948, supporting our community – those who live, work, and play here – is at the heart of what we do and why we exist.”

“One aspect of Roanoke that we can all appreciate is our ability to provide local services. Whether that is the local food, entertainment, or the art scene, we have such a wide range of talent in the Roanoke area. I have had the honor of working alongside so many talented artists both from Roanoke and abroad. The overwhelming support of local talent we are seeing is providing an exciting foundation for the future of our arts and culture industry,” Jon further shared.

To celebrate the completion of the murals, Blue Eagle CU invited the community to take photos at the murals and post on social media for a chance to win $250.
