HERNDON, VA (June 9, 2014) -- The Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation honored its long-time board member Gerrianne “Winky” Burks during its May board meeting. Burks, who is a past Chairman and former Vice Chairman of the board, is retiring after 10 years of service.
“Winky has been a valuable leader and supporter of the Foundation and its work to meet our mission of scholarship, mentoring and youth outreach programs,” said Linda Rogus, Foundation Executive Director. “We truly thank her for a decade of dedication and commitment to our efforts working with youth in our community.”
Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation is the charitable arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union. Its primary work includes supporting multiple youth-based philanthropic activities and providing college scholarships – with more than $550,000 awarded since 2005.
In 2012, Burks retired from Northwest Federal Credit Union, where her career spanned 41 years, the last five as President/CEO. She remained active on the Foundation board until deciding to retire her position this year.
“I have been connected to the Foundation since its inception and am so proud of its efforts and accomplishments over the years,” said Burks. “It will be hard to let go, but I know the staff and leadership will continue to make a significant difference in the lives of many children. I look forward to following its continued success in the future.”
