Louisiana Credit Union League announces CUDE scholarship recipients

HARAHAN, LA (January 30, 2024) — The Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) announced the recipients of the annual CUDE Scholarship Program. This scholarship program is an initiative of the Louisiana Credit Union Foundation as well as LCUL’s Young Professionals Network.

The applications were reviewed by a panel of industry experts with extensive knowledge of the DE program.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Kimberly Chapman of Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Jeremy Dunbar of La Capitol Federal Credit Union.

Each recipient will receive a scholarship to attend The National Credit Union Foundation’s (NFCU) Development Education (DE) Program. The signature program of the NCUF, DE builds awareness of the development issues that prevent people from achieving financial freedom and how credit unions are uniquely positioned to address them.

“This year’s applicants truly blew the judges away with their commitment to service and dedication not only to the credit union movement but to their communities as well,” said Angela Melle, Senior Director of Communications and Education.

Chapman, a 27-year movement veteran, most recently played a central role in helping Neighbors FCU obtain their CDFI designation and started the Women’s Empowerment program for female heads of household.

Dunbar’s application boasted a long list of credit union and community service leadership positions including being a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University Gold Council and the Society of Human Resource Management.

More than 2,500 people from dozens of countries have graduated from the U.S. CUDE program since its launch in 1982. Through our scholarship program in Louisiana, we are excited to continue to grow the number of CUDE graduates in the state.
