Louisiana CU League launches new era of member service

Modernized association bolsters capacity to serve credit unions

HARAHAN, LA (September 19, 2023) — Juan Fernandez Ceballos, president/CEO of the Louisiana Credit Union League, has ushered in a new era of state-level leadership for its member credit unions.

“The league has been serving credit unions across Louisiana admirably, and we intend to build upon that,” Fernandez said in making the announcement. “We have realigned the organization to enhance our value proposition to our credit unions, invest in our members and double down on improving and creating a strong work culture that bolsters staff morale and satisfaction.”

He continued that after speaking with each team member and many member credit unions, the realigned organization will allow the league to strategically consider new ways to serve member credit unions. The refreshed Louisiana Credit Union League structure consists of several changes, including:

  • Transitioning Steven Liberto’s role to executive vice president of innovation and partnerships, bringing a heightened focus to relevance and the future of credit unions
  • Elevating advocacy work and improving focus by naming Anthony Ware as legislative director and Angela Gervais as director of political advocacy and engagement
  • Angela Melle will step into a new role as senior director of communications and education, a key strategic position that enables us to deliver first-class services and events to members
  • Abby Trauth has been promoted to director of partnerships and education leveraging her expertise and vast connections to enhance our value proposition to our members
  • Nanci Wilson, a credit union veteran most recently serving as digital engagement and youth empowerment coordinator at the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, will join the league in the newly created position of vice president of member solutions
  • Adding the position of director of impact and community development, which will be advertised soon, to augment credit unions’ economic impact in Louisiana

We are laser focused on creating an environment in which every credit union in Louisiana thrives and is empowered to serve their members well,” Fernandez said. “We are assembling the best team for our league to deliver on that promise to our credit unions today and into the future. Amazing things are already happening in Louisiana; our best days are ahead of us through this bold, new strategic direction.”
