LSI donates passion, time, and money to Ronald McDonald House Charities

ELGIN, IL (June 5, 2017) — In a company-wide vote, connecting with children and families in need was chosen by LSI’s employees as the charitable cause they most wanted to support.

“We are a local business and we wanted to connect with a local cause to enable our employees to make a difference,” stated Dave Brooke, Executive Vice President of LSI. Over 6,000 of LSI’s clients, employees, and families voted to make a large donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI) instead of sending holiday gifts to their clients in 2016.

Continuing and strengthening the partnership between LSI and RMHC-CNI has been incredibly rewarding. Groups of employees from LSI volunteer several times per month at the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield, IL, providing food and comfort to children and families that are receiving care at the Central DuPage Hospital.

Marissa Brown, a financial services representative at LSI, has a very unique connection to the RMHC-CNI. “My goddaughter had stayed at the Ronald McDonald House during her battle with cancer,” shares Marissa, “Sadly, she is no longer with us, but I remember that she used to say that [RMHC] didn’t feel like a hospital, it felt like a home and everyone treated her like family.” When Marissa was volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House with LSI last month, tears welled up in her eyes as a little girl who was battling cancer came up to ask if she could help cook dinner. She later told us, “it made the experience very rewarding and heartfelt seeing this little girl laughing as she helped us, just as if we were at home.”

Jim De Maria, VP of Development for RMHC-CNI, shared, “We truly appreciate the passion, support and commitment to our charity from organizations like LSI. It is this type of support which allows us to carry out our mission of providing care, comfort and a sense of community to families of hospitalized children.”

In addition to the original donation and perpetual volunteering, LSI made the gracious decision to sell used office equipment and decorations to their employees to raise money for RMHC-CNI. The company is currently undergoing a complete overhaul, and it is only right to turn the remodel into something charitable.

RMHC enables individuals, groups and corporations to volunteer at their houses around the country. Opportunities to bake cookies or prepare a lunch or dinner can be found on their website (rmhccni.org). Besides volunteering time, donations of cleaning supplies and gifts for children help keep the facility running and make it feel like a home away from home.

“It is amazing to see the dedication of our team and the pride they take in representing our organization at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Lee Kolquist, LSI CEO.  He went on to say, “Investing in yourself and others is at the core of our values at LSI. It is exciting to witness our employees bringing even more passion to their work, as they also connect with our community.”
