Make your house the perfect home: BCU’s home improvement campaign draws over 1,200 social entries on social media
CHICAGO, IL (August 21, 2015) — Promoting home ownership as a tool for long-term financial stability, BCU’s recent Make Your House the Perfect Home campaign got a big thumbs up from Credit Union members on social media. The home improvement-themed campaign, which included a two-week contest on Facebook, offered members the opportunity to win $1,000 for home enhancement projects. The campaign engaged more than 1,270 members in total.
Joining winning members Crista Dusek and Brian Altergott at the Credit Union’s headquarters, BCU spokesperson and home improvement expert, Lou Manfredini, provided a series of practical tips to the first-time homeowners. After presenting a check for the $1,000 grand prize on behalf of the Credit Union, NBC’s Mr. Fix-it also spent time answering the newlyweds’ questions about home remodeling.
“This is perfect timing for us because we are buying our first place,” said long-time member Crista Dusek. “It’s a fixer-upper and we needed help with ideas. We could use the extra cash to fix up the rooms. It’s perfect!”
The contest, which also awarded several smaller daily prizes, drew over 1,200 entries and engaged members in a series of home improvement topics, like advice for first time homebuyers, remodeling tips, and property investment advice.
An active promoter of home ownership as a key component in financial well-being, BCU has led Illinois credit unions in new mortgage originations every year since 2012.
BCU’s Facebook channel currently has more than 14,000 Page likes.
