Making the greater good even greater
Nominate your favorite local small businesses and nonprofit organizations
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (September 8, 2015) — Last weekend, Mill City Credit Union (formerly General Mills Federal Credit Union) officially launched the Making the Greater Good Even Greater ongoing campaign by sponsoring a free yoga day at Yoga Camp, an outdoor yoga and live music series in downtown Minneapolis. Making the Greater Good Even Greater aims to honor the credit union ethos of ‘people helping people’ and invest in the positive impact small businesses and non-profit organizations make in local communities served by Mill City Credit Union (CU).
Each month, starting this October, Mill City CU will award a minimum of $500 to one small business and one nonprofit organization. To be considered for October’s awards, a small business or nonprofit organization must be nominated by credit union members or non-members through Mill City CU’s Making the Greater Good Even Greater campaign page (info.millcitycu.com/greatergood) from now until September 7. From September 15 through September 21, Facebook users will have an opportunity to vote once per day through Mill City CU’s Facebook page (facebook.com/millcitycreditunion) to determine October’s winners. The winning non-profit and small business will be announced on October 1 and featured online at MillCityCU.com and in local branches for the remainder of the month. Both winners will receive $500 plus an opportunity for more based on the number of new memberships, checking or loans generated at Mill City CU that month. Nominations for the ongoing campaign can be submitted on Mill City CU’s website anytime throughout the year.
To participate in the Making the Greater Good Even Greater campaign, small businesses must have a total net revenue of less than $500,000 on their last IRS filing and non-profit organizations must have 501c3 tax exemption status. They must also operate in the counties that Mill City CU serves: Hennepin, Carver, Meeker, McLeod and Wright. Official rules can be found online.
