WALL, N.J. (Monday, September 10, 2012) – Marcy Van Zile of Pine Beach, NJ, walked 160,220 steps or 80 miles as part of the First Financial Federal Credit Union Foundation’s (www.firstfinancialfoundation.org) Pedometer Walking Challenge.  She was the event’s number one challenger, followed by Shawn Olsen of Brick who walked 142,050 steps (71 miles) and Blanca Houseworth of Oceanport, an IT help desk specialist at First Financial’s Wall Corporate Headquarters, with 128,961 steps (64 miles).

Van Zile, a long time member at First Financial’s Toms River branch, not only walked for her physical and mental health, her donation helped to fund classroom grants and scholarships throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  “I do a great deal of walking after having several lower back surgeries. I was surprised that all my steps turned into 80 miles! I enjoy walking the Seaside Park Boardwalk, the Ocean Gate Boardwalk, in addition to using the treadmill at Toms River Fitness. I also am involved with the Ocean Running Club where I walk in their events while the rest of my family runs!”
