MAX honors MACOA with the MAX Community Achievement Award

MONTGOMERY, AL (February 8, 2016) — On February 4, MAX held its 13th Annual MAX Community Reception.  The MAX Community Reception is an annual event that brings together business, political, and community leaders to celebrate community successes and recognize organizations and individuals who have made a significant difference in the quality of life in Central and East Alabama.

MAX honored The Montgomery Area Council on Aging with the MAX Community Achievement Award for the broad work they do in the River Region. Since its founding in 1972, the Montgomery Area Council on Aging, with the help of volunteers, has delivered more than two million meals to seniors. Three hundred and seventy-one seniors are served daily through Meals on Wheels. MACOA offers more than a meal. They offer their clients companionship and safety checks, as well as meet a significant community need.

“As a volunteer through MAX’s Corporate Route partnership, I have been able to see first-hand the great work they do for seniors,” said Jamie Brown, MAX VP of Relationship Development. “I believe all of the MAX team members who deliver Meals on Wheels would echo that we are thankful to have a small part in the great work that MACOA is doing in the community.”

Along with the MAX Community Achievement Award, MAX was also honored to present the Montgomery Area Council on Aging with a check for $2,500 to further support their mission in the River Region.

“We are thankful to have the opportunity to honor and recognize the Montgomery Area Council on Aging,” said Greg McClellan, MAX President and CEO. “MAX’s Community Reception is an event we look forward to each year because it provides MAX the opportunity to further support and honor organizations that go above and beyond to impact the communities we serve.”

Previous recipients of the MAX Community Achievement Award include the Junior League of Montgomery, Central Alabama Sports Commission, EMERGE Montgomery, Montgomery Area Nontraditional Equestrians (MANE), the Joy to Life Foundation, Pastor Edward Nettles, Sr., the Montgomery Biscuits, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama, the 754th Electronic Systems Group, the Joint Forces Headquarters Alabama National Guard, the Alabama Wildlife Federation and the Montgomery Campus of Troy University.
