MAX sponsors fall shred drive to help customers and the community take steps to prevent identity theft

MONTGOMERY, AL (November 25, 2015) — On November 20th, MAX, Montgomery Clean City Commission, AARP Alabama, and Gilmore Services hosted the largest, local shred drive to date. More than 1,000 River Region residents took steps to prevent identity theft by participating in the fall shred drive.

MAX Community and PR Coordinator, Melissa Stewart, said, “we are excited to see this event continue to grow year after year. Identity theft is a real issue, and we are thankful to see our customers and the community take steps to protect themselves.”

The event at Garrett Coliseum saw local residents safely dispose of bags and boxes of old documents and papers containing personal information. All documents were shredded on site and recycled.

Although the event was free to the public, participants were invited to bring non-perishable food items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. As a result, thousands of pounds of food were collected for the hungry in the Montgomery area.

According to Stewart, MAX is grateful to not only have the opportunity to sponsor the event but to also volunteer during the shred drive.
