Members Cooperative Credit Union gains new vice president and regional branch manager
ATKIN, MN (July 19, 2016) — Kathy Stromberg was promoted to vice president – branch operations and Tim Anderson was hired as regional branch manager, Aitkin and McGregor, for Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU).
In her new position, Stromberg will oversee all of the operations at MCCU’s eleven locations. Stromberg has been involved with many changes in the banking industry since beginning her career with MCCU over 33 years ago.
“The Aitkin area is a great community to be a part of personally and professionally,” said Stromberg, “One of the most rewarding parts of my job has been finding solutions for our members’ financial needs and the relationships I’ve established. I will continue to have an office in Aitkin and I hope the members continue to stop by; however, they are in good hands with the new manager, Tim Anderson.”
Tim Anderson was hired as the regional branch manager for Aitkin and McGregor, replacing Stromberg. With many years of management, financial and training experience, Anderson is well-suited for his new position.
Anderson will be responsible for ensuring that members’ experiences are positive, consistent and exceed expectations, in both the Aitkin and McGregor locations. Anderson will also help ensure that the MCCU branches meet the organization’s mission: To be the primary, positive financial influence in the lives of members/owners.
“Being an alumni of Aitkin High School, raising my family here and being a member of MCCU for over 30 years, I’m excited to serve the Aitkin and McGregor area, said Anderson. “I’m looking forward to connecting with members and working with the great teams already in place at both locations.”
MCCU opened its first Aitkin office in 1980. Growth necessitated a move to a different building in 1992 and continued growth and support from members has brought it to the recently-opened facility at 108 Minnesota Ave. N. MCCU staff are looking forward to the opportunities that will allow them to continue to grow and develop to meet the needs of their membership and communities.
About Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU)
Members Cooperative Credit Union was founded the spring of 1936, when a group from the Cloquet area envisioned a better way of getting the financial services they and their community needed. They became the charter members of Cloquet Co-op Credit Union. In the decades that followed, the credit union grew, adding branches and expanding into Duluth, McGregor, and Aitkin, and changing its name to better reflect its growing membership. In 2015, the credit union merged with Lake State CU, integrating the Moose Lake, Sandstone, North Branch, and Isanti locations. In 2017, a merger with Lakes Area FCU added a Grand Rapids location, and most recently, the credit union opened a Brainerd Lakes Area branch in Baxter. Today, MCCU has grown to serve over 55,000 members. Their confidence and continued support have made it the largest credit union based north of the Twin Cities. MCCU is proud to continue the community-focused legacy their founders envisioned, and to empower new generations of members and their families. For more information, please visit www.membersccu.org.
