(Duluth, MN) December 1, 2010 – Dal Bolt, Vice President of Operations for Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU), announced today that MCCU will be the one of the first credit unions in the region to offer Health Savings Accounts (HSAs).

“No matter what a person’s age or circumstances, medical expenses can sneak up on anyone,” said Bolt. “A Health Savings Account empowers individuals to plan ahead for their healthcare costs, and offers some tax benefits.”

A Health Savings Account is available to anyone who is part of a high-deductible health plan. Distributions for qualified medical expenses may be tax-free, and the funds may be rolled over from year to year. In addition, the account is portable, so even if employers or health plans change, the money stays with the individual.

To find out more, please call Members Cooperative Credit Union at (218) 625-8500, or stop by any of MCCU’s six locations: Cloquet, Duluth-Miller Hill, Duluth-Spirit Valley, Duluth-Central, Aitkin or McGregor.
