Members 1st Credit Union tops fundraising goals for Make-A-Wish Radiothon

With all four branches participating, Members 1st Credit Union raised $3,000 for Make-A-Wish in the foundation’s annual fundraising radiothon.

The donations from credit union staff and members exceeded Members 1st’s goal by $1,000 and was the highest donation amount ever in its past six years of giving to Make-A-Wish.

“We were thrilled—but not surprised—to see the generous participation of our members and staff in giving to the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Teri Vanderpol, CEO and President of Members 1st. “Those funds will go to help ease the suffering of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.”

Fundraising began in mid-February, a month before the radiothon, with branches challenged to raise $500 each. The two Redding branches, as well as the branches in Anderson and Chico, all met their goals.

Staff participated with general donations or by purchasing “Make-A-Wish Mondays,” where for a $5 minimum donation, they could “buy” an extra casual-dress day and wear a “Casual for Cause” button on those days. The credit union matched up to $150 in donations from staff members.

Credit union members who made $1 and $5 donations were given paper stars of different sizes to sign that were hung in their branch office. Members making a $20 minimum donation received a magnetic star they could keep.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation exceeded its goal of $100,000 for this year’s radiothon with donations of $109,000.
