Members 1st Federal Credit Union is spreading holiday cheer and hope through its annual Hummingbird Ornament Campaign, benefiting Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA.
Each year, Members 1st branches sell limited-edition hummingbird ornaments to raise funds for CMN, supporting lifesaving treatments, programs and equipment for local children. The campaign, now a cherished tradition, features a unique ornament designed each year with inspiration from a CMN Miracle Child.
This year’s ornament was inspired by 10-year-old Gannon, born 12 weeks early, with a story deeply connected to Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital.
“Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital has been part of Gannon’s life ever since his days in the NICU,” said his mom, Jennifer Kupko. “It is a place we trust. The doctors and nurses go above and beyond — not just for his health, but for who he is. That same spirit carries over to the football team, where he is an honorary player. Both the hospital and the team have shown him what it means to be strong, supported and part of something bigger. Gannon bleeds blue and white, which is why he chose those colors for his hummingbird ornament.”
“Each hummingbird carries a story of hope,” said Katie Anderson, Director of Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital. “Having a Miracle Child select the colors each year adds a personal touch that makes the tradition even more special.”
Since 2011, the annual ornament sales have raised more than $331,000 for CMN.
“This campaign is one of our favorite ways to give back during the holidays. Each ornament tells a story of hope and knowing that every purchase helps a child and family right here in our community makes it even more meaningful,” said Sara Firestone, VP of Community and Public Relations at Members 1st Federal Credit Union.
