Members 1st Federal Credit Union presents scholarships to education award recipients

MECHANICSBURG, PA (August 11, 2021) — Members 1st Federal Credit Union’s President & CEO, George Nahodil, presented four local college students with a $2,500 scholarship in recognition of the credit union’s annual Education Award program.

The recipients included Rachel Jay, finance recipient from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania; Riley McCarthy, marketing recipient from Loyola University Maryland; Christine McClellan, human resources recipient from Elizabethtown College; and Curtis McPherson, information technology recipient from Penn State University.

The students received news in the spring that they had been selected to participate in the Education Award program. To protect the students’ and associates’ safety, Members 1st made the decision to forego the in-person twelve-week internship. The credit union felt it was important to honor the students’ efforts, so a check presentation was held at the beginning of August so that the students could receive their scholarships, hear from Members 1st’s President & CEO and network with representatives across the credit union in the four respective areas that the scholarship program recognizes.

To be eligible for the annual award, applicants must be undergraduate students currently attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Preference is given to students from Central Pennsylvania who are current members of the credit union. Four recipients are selected each year, and the award typically consists of a paid twelve-week internship with a $2,500 scholarship.
