Members Credit Union Zumba’s for Ecuador
WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA (May 23, 2016) — Vanessa Kuduk, loan officer at Members CU and certified Zumba instructor, organized a Zumba Event on May 7 to raise funds for Ecuadorian credit union members who have suffered losses. The event raised $1,540. All of the proceeds were donated to the World Council of Credit Unions to directly benefit credit union staff and members in Ecuador.
With the support of Members Credit Union and the Credit Union League of Connecticut, who helped to promote the event, and many of her coworkers who volunteered their Saturday afternoon, Vanessa made it happen. Vanessa was able to gather 22 Zumba instructors who were happy to work with her to choreograph an amazing two-hour Zumba event, which was kicked off with a traditional Ecuadorian folk dance in costume.
About 100 people attended. A number were Ecuadorian and gave thanks for the support of their family members. All had an energizing afternoon getting fit while helping others.
The Zumba event and candy sales at Members Credit Union raised $1,540. Every dollar raised was donated to the World Council of Credit Unions, which will distribute the funds directly to credit union staff and members in Ecuador that suffered loss in the earthquake.
