Members of Tennessee and Mississippi Credit Union Trade Associations overwhelmingly vote to merge

CHATTANOOGA and JACKSON, TN & MI (December 16, 2025) |

The Mississippi Credit Union  Association (MSCUA) and the Tennessee Credit Union League (TCUL) today announce their  members have overwhelmingly voted to merge. This vote allows the two organizations to  formally unite and build on their shared commitment to credit unions in Tennessee and  Mississippi.

“Through this collaboration with Mississippi, we are building a stronger trade association for  both Tennessee and Mississippi credit unions,” said Fred Robinson, president and CEO of the  Tennessee Credit Union League. “By bringing together more than 170 credit unions under one  organization, we can offer credit unions dedicated advocacy resources, more educational  opportunities at better prices, and deeper expertise across compliance, events and vendor  partnerships. It also gives credit unions a louder collective voice in Washington and at the state  level.”

The new organization will become a legal entity on Jan. 1, 2026, and the Tennessee League and  Mississippi Credit Union Association will begin the transition process to combine the state trade  associations.

Fred Robinson, president and CEO of the Tennessee Credit Union League, will serve at the helm  of the new organization. Charles Elliott, current president/CEO of the Mississippi Credit Union  Association, will serve as chief advocacy officer of Mississippi.

“We are excited to strengthen our support for credit unions of all asset sizes, with an increased  focus on supporting smaller credit unions,” said Robinson. “In the coming months, we will work  closely with our transition board to align our products, services, structure and strategy in  meaningful ways as we build the new organization.”
