Michigan First Credit Union Named a National Best and Brightest Company to Work For

LATHRUP VILLAGE, Mich. – Dec. 27, 2011 – Michigan First Credit Union (www.MichiganFirst.com) has been named one of the nation’s Best and Brightest Companies To Work For™  by the National Association for Business Resources. This is the first ever national 101 Best and Brightest awards program.  For four years running, Michigan First has also been named one of “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest companies to Work For.”

“This distinction is a great honor for everyone here at Michigan First,” said Monica Horger, vice president of human resources at Michigan First Credit Union. “We take a lot of pride in the service we provide to our members and that wouldn’t be possible without having a happy and engaged team behind us. We are always looking for innovative ways to provide each team member with the best benefits and incentives that we can.”

The 2011 winning companies were assessed by an independent research firm which reviewed a number of key measures relative to other nationally recognized winners. They include communication, community initiatives, compensation and benefits, diversity and multiculturalism, employee education and development, employee engagement and commitment, recognition and retention, recruitment and selection, small business and work-life balance.

With more than 10 years of experience conducting Best and Brightest Company competitions, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) have identified numerous best HR practices and provided benchmarking for companies that continue to be leaders in employment standards.

“Nationally recognized award recipients keep innovative human resource initiatives at the forefront of their company culture and make it a priority to consider their workforce as an essential aspect in their company success. Our Association is proud to recognize and honor these winning companies for this fine achievement,” said Jennifer Kluge, NABR president.

Michigan First team members receive unique educational opportunities, including extensive team member training, tuition reimbursement, reimbursement for professional development courses and team-building days. Team success is also celebrated with monthly reward programs, with incentives including cash bonuses, gift cards and tickets to local sporting and concert events, for team members who achieve specific milestones.
