Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Awards Scholarships to Local Students

KINGSTON, NY — MHV has awarded ten scholarships to local Hudson Valley, NY high school seniors to help finance their college education through the 2011 Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) scholarship competition.
The students competed against more than 1,500 credit union members from across New York State. CUANY chose the winners based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements in addition to an essay on the shared credit union philosophy, “People Helping People.”
Megan Michie, of Rhinebeck, NY, was selected as a top ranking statewide winner and received an additional scholarship in the amount of $500 from the Credit Union Association of New York. Bill Spearman, CEO of MHV presented Megan with her scholarship awards on May 17th, 2011.
“We are very pleased to award these scholarships to our local hard-working students,” said Spearman, “It proves that the ‘people helping people’ philosophy of the credit union movement is alive and well here in the Hudson Valley.
The local high school seniors who also received MHV Scholarships were: Kacey Gardner, Brooke Littlefield, and Krystel Lynn Zenker of Saugerties, NY; Carmine R. Nigro of Kerhonkson, NY; Richard S. Guido of Ulster Park, NY; Nicole A. Domkiw of Marbolo, NY; Kevin Ausanio of Lake Katrine, NY; Trevor Szekeres of Rondout Valley, NY; and Nicholas Bartolotti of Highland, NY.
